#1004 Norwich City Badge

Happy Birthday to Kyle! He is a big Norwich City fan (me? I'm a fair weather supporter with a growing interest the longer I don't live in Norfolk. weird that eh!) So I thought I'd paint my only piece of Norwich City memorabilia, this little badge. Unfortunately City lost this evening and are out of the Carling cup. Nevermind, probably better to focus on the Premiership.

#1003 My Office Wall

Back to packing up my 'soon to be old' office at work today taking down things off the wall, ripping out cupboards. This is a painting of two pieces of blutack left on the wall from a postcard. In a couple of weeks I will be recreating my office in new premises, lots of smooth walls there none of this pale yellow breeze block nonsense.

All of the #paintathon paintings are now listed on ebay the auctions will end on Sunday!

#1002 Dan Young, Daily tee shirt

This is the Dan from my Dan Young Daily #1000paintings tee shirt I wore on the paintathon day on Friday. I managed to not get paint on it all the way through 12 hours of painting, then I paint a picture of it and wipe my brush on it! Oh well that's what it was for!

#1001 The Corner of #1

This is the corner of and my signature on the very first Dan Young, Daily painting. Seemed like a good subject for the 1001st picture.

If you would like to catch up with yesterday's paintathon I have uploaded the images to my website and the videos are on my ustream channel.

#997 Echo Newspaper

Tomorrows news today! The Echo is Cheltenhams premier local newspaper (they didn't pay me to write that either!) and they are coming to take some pictures tomorrow for inclusion in Fridays edition which means the 1000th day paintathon will be featured on TV, Radio and the printed press. I will post links when I have them on Friday, inbetween painting, and eating. Now I see why artists get assistants......

#996 Pot Bottom

We had a load of really old terracotta pots that got frost damage and broke. This one found it's way into the final section of path up to the greenhouse, embedded I'm concrete for all time!
In #paintathon news I have put the schedule up on my website here so have a look and start planning your Fridays viewing, get snacks and make sure you have plenty of pop in to enjoy the greatest show on earth!

#994 Watering Can

Our indoor watering can, a small little chap that holds just enough water to do all of the cacti and succulents in the house and studio. This watering can is one of the objects I am considering painting on Fridays #paintathon.

#993 Two Mugs

These aren't just any old mugs these are the two mugs that had tea in during my interview with Faye Hatcher from BBC radio Glos, for broadcast during next Fridays paintathon celebrating the thousandth day of Dan Young, Daily. I am pretty sure I didn't go off on too many odd tangents, they can fix all that in the edit anyway.

#253 (#984) Bannister

This is a little reminder to myself to put the bannister back up. It's only been off for three years. Only sixteen days until the day #1000 paintathon! I should get it up before then unless anyone wants to watch me put a bannister up instead of painting?

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

#252 (#983) Bark

I am pretty sure this is from a forsythia shrub, there are two reasons for my positivity; it was underneath a forsythia shrub and it looks like forsythia bark.

The watchful of you will have noticed that I have added an extra number to the title of the post. This is a countdown (or a count up) to the thousandth painting on the 19th of August. yep a thousand!

'How can I help celebrate this momentous occasion?' I hear you ask

Well, there are two ways you can paint/draw/doodle a cake and upload it to the  #1000paintings group on Flickr .

I am also intending to spend the 1000th day of Dan Young, Daily painting all day and broadcast it on my Ustream channel. You will be able to watch me in my studio making drawings and paintings, I also plan to put every picture I make on ebay there and then. See me paint it and immediately bid on it!

No final plans yet but I will be making the 100th daily painting at a specific time keep an eye out here and twitter @danyoungdaily for that. I will paint in the style of the two previous years. I will definitely paint a cake. Might take a few live requests.. who knows after that you will have to tune in!
