038 Second Hand
This is the second hand from my old watch, it broke and I decided not to wear one ever again. I haven't looked back since.....but sorry if I am ever late for anything.... Anyway Watch those second hands carefully tonight and have a great new year xx

037 Three pins
We have been trying to puppy proof the house (impossible task unless you live inside a metal cube.) as part of that we have been picking up pins and needles with a big magnet. Theirs today and the magnet tomorrow maybe!

036 Red Moleskine sketchbook
Today's addition to this little composite painting is My beautiful new, red, moleskine sketchbook. One of Christmas presents so I haven't built up the courage to make the first mark yet!

035 Red torch
This is not just any torch.... This torch is magnetic and bendy! Excellent Christmas present.

034 Spider-Man money box
I am expanding on a few different themes thigh this multiple day picture. Today I have started with my spidey money box because this year of red paintings was inspired by last years painting of him.
More of my favourite red things to come...

032 My red Christmas presents
I have tried to draw, from memory, all of the red Christmas presents that Debbie got me today. As I have had a half a bottle of fizz I might be a bit unclear...,

031 Watering can rose
I 'think' this is the last of these watercolour sketches. For tomorrow is Christmas Day and I feel like a change!
Tuesday 23 December 2014
030 Water Pistol
I think this water pistol actually came out of a cracker a few xmases ago. Ahem...
'My dog, Minton, ate my shuttlecock!
Bad Minton!'
Thanks Ben B!

029 lobster
It isn't apparent from my painting that this is a vibrating lobster, you pull the cord and it vibrates. Stick that in your Salvador Dali!

026 Red Shirt
These little watercolours are becoming a great way for me to document my red stuff. I am also realising how many red objects I have. Here is my red shirt.

025 Bauble
I have been in the loft and retrieved the decorations... I have also posted the cards, if you didn't get one please accept this bauble as my seasons greetings to you all x.

024 Red Jacket
As you all know we have a puppy. Which means I am wearing a lot of old clothes in case they get chewed which they do. I am enjoying wearing this red top which I have had for years and years..... Not for much longer!

022 Coke Can
A can of well known cola. Who I used to think used the colours red and white to link thier product with Santa but my research has shown this to be untrue. They do seem to have established the image of a ruddy faced rotund chap as Father Christmas following depictions in 1930s adverts.
Sunday 14 December 2014
021 Red Armchair
This is our old armchair, the poor thing is taking a bit of a beating from the puppy, not sure how long it will hold up!

019 Fake fingernail
We had our works christmas 'do' this afternoon. There were crackers and everything, this is one of the cracker toys. It is one of those fake fingernails which was red so I was happy. Yes, I may have had a couple of drinks.

017 iPad - watercolour
Another of my red colour choices. When asked what colour ipad case would you like Mr Young? I answered 'Red please'.
Tuesday 9 December 2014
016 Guitar - watercolour
This object represents my long time relationship with the colour red. This is my very first guitar which I got from my Mum and Dad for my 13th birthday a mere 27 years ago.... You would think I would be better at playing maybe, but I enjoy it still very much. I play an acoustic more these days, I can't handle all that loud rock and roll music at my age.....

013 Lead - watercolour
A big day in our little dogs life, today we went on our first walk! I was spectacularly pleased with how it went which means tomorrow morning she will be stubborn and pull and probably bite someone. But for now I am resting on my laurels.
What colour is Ochres lead I hear you ask? Red. O'course.

011 Sock - watercolour
Since we got Ochre, our new puppy, socks have become something to be guarded. These are a favourite pair that, so far, have remained safe.
Wednesday 3 December 2014
010 My Red Underpants - watercolour
I am revealing a bit more of myself than normal in today's installment of Dan Young, Daily. Here are my knickers!

007 Wall Plug
My favourite sized wall plug is the red one, obviously. But it is also the most useful one in my humble opinion. I also like anything that is size colour coded.
Saturday 29 November 2014
006 Button - watercolour
I like yesterday's simple fez and this may become the first mini series within the year of red, simple pure little watercolours.
Friday 28 November 2014
005 Mini Fez - watercolour
I have a wonderful little collection of fezzes this is the smallest, approx 5cm across. I think there is a direct correlation between the size of a fez and how amusing it is. But the same could be said for all hats I suppose.
Thursday 27 November 2014
004 Ochre - monoprint
A busy day for the puppy today, young Ochre had her second vet visit this afternoon after going a bit stir crazy this morning, most unlike this calm picture of serenity!
Wednesday 26 November 2014
003 Ochre - pencils
This is a portrait of my dog Ochre. She was named after a red Ochre colouring pencil. In fact it was the very pencil that I used to draw this today.
Tuesday 25 November 2014
002 Kong ball - monoprint
As the proud and tired owner of a new puppy, I am a convert to the religion of the KONG. Dog owners will know what I'm talking about!
And it's red so I am doubley excited.

001 Debbie in a Red Turban (towel)
Welcome to year seven!
The year of RED!
Yes, I will be focusing on the colour red for the next 365 days, today I have made another version of yesterday's portrait of Debbie. This time referencing one of my favourite paintings - 'Man in a Red Turban' by Jan Van Eyck. It is now 'Woman in a Red Towel' and heralds a festival of red, rouge, cadmium, alizarin, rose, scarlet and so on....
Join me as I discover the power of red!

365 Debbie - monoprint
The final day of year six and Debbie's birthday - happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you.... I have of course wished her happy birthday in real life as well! A marvellous day has been had and a bottle of bubbly has been drunk. I wanted to end this year of drawings paintings and prints with a portrait of Debbie, she is the reason I started and am able to continue this little project.... Year seven begins tomorrow!
Saturday 22 November 2014
364 Prayer Plant
I love this plant, mostly for its purple underside but also the way it closes up after it has been watered or left out in the rain. It does this to get as much water to its roots as possible. Clever eh?
Only one day of this years daily doings, tomorrow is Debbie's birthday and the end of this years project so on Monday I begin year seven, yes seven. Which will see me indulge my love of the colour red for a whole year....my heart rate is building already!
Friday 21 November 2014
363 'Babies Toes'
I think this will probably have a very clever Latin name but we call it babies toes. The real name will come to me at some point......
Thursday 20 November 2014
362 'dead' cactus
This is our 'dead' cactus so called because for about a year after it got knocked out of its pot and lost all of its roots we thought it was dead but we kept it in case it wasn't. It wasn't.
Wednesday 19 November 2014
361 Easter/christmas cactus
I think this is supposed to be an Easter cactus (easter flowering) but it is about to flower (near christmas!) but then I always forget which way round it is.....
Tuesday 18 November 2014
360 Unknown brain like cactus
I could probably find out what this species of cactus is really called, using the Internet, but I'm busy and we just call it the brain cactus so, you will too!
