#250 Plectrum or Plectra

My new (late birthday) wooden plectrums. From bottom: African Blackwood, African mahogany, African Zebrawood, Red Oak. They feel really nice to hold and play with, much nicer than plastic ones.

Another cycling day and a first medal for GB! Woop woop! Lizzie Armistead won silver in the ladies road race, so I've drawn my flat tyre.

#248 Bike Seat

I am not promising to make an Olympic themed picture everyday but I'll give it a go! My bike seat in the shed links very nicely to the men's road race that is currently being contested. C'mon Cav!

#247 Olympic Rings

I am looking forward to the Olympics opening ceremony so much I may have got carried away with today's drawing. I'm not sure if the organising committee will come after me for making a drawing of the logo... Watch this space!

#245 Great Britain v New Zealand

This, as I'm sure you all know, was the very first sporting action of the Olympic games. This was the very first kick of the game, I was there and we (GB) won! Oddly we were sat in amongst what I think we're some of the NZ players families, they were very passionate, but also very quiet when GB scored with a thundering free kick. I blummin' love the Olympics!

#244 Leaf shadows

I may be a little obsessed with shadows at the minute. This is the last little bit of sunlight on our garden before the house blocks it off. Complete with slug eaten leaf shadows.

#241 Pine Tree

This tree was a tiny sapling that grew on the street near our old flat underneath its huge parent, we snuck out in the dead of night and dug it up...years later it grows very happily on our patio.

#236 Door Window

Here is the view from our front door, it is a horrible door that needs changing for one that doesn't let the wind in. I know, I know I ask for the moon on a stick.

#231 Seagulls

Ok, I'm going to try and get through this post without swearing. These seagulls, I think it was these ones, have been keeping me awake and/or waking me up for the last few weeks. Delightful creatures aren't they?

I once saw one take a waffle out of a French ladies hand, just as she was about to eat it. Anyway on a light note this is my birthday 'eve'! Looking forward to birthday day and birthday 'boxing day' and then birthday weekend. I wonder if anyone has got me a shotgun for shooting the seagulls with for my birthday......

#230 Palette

Another one! This one is for egg tempera painting and the colours you see are pure pigment mixed with water, waiting to be added to the egg binder medium ready for painting. Lovely, lovely colour.

#227 Cross

I have been returning drawings to artists whose work didn't get into the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2012 today, myself included. As you can see from the chalk X on the back of my three drawings. I should perhaps enter this one next year.....

#221 Plectrum

My plectrum tucked up under guitar strings behind the bridge so as to not be in the way but easily accessible should I need it. I tend to use my fingers for plucking, but you never know when you might need a plectrum.
