#310 Autumn

Well, a mini autumn on my patio with my small native tree bonsai collection (sounds fancy doesn't it?) you can see a beech tree just starting to turn an amazing yellow and there is a red maple just visible behind it. I love autumn, but I don't love having a cold.

In other news; I'm in the paper today! You can read it online as well. I am the centre spread in the Cheltenham Echo a lovely piece about this years daily pics and a look forward to next years project.

If you have just found me and my daily painting projection are most welcome! pleaseperuse this blog and the last four years of daily doings. You can find out more about next years daily painting here. Send me an email If you are interested in buying prints of any of this years digital dailies.

Right that's everyone up to date, I'm off for a warming honey and herb drink and a big handful of vitamins and paracetamol!

#309 Package

After more than a little detective work, chasing ebay sellers and the post office Debbie has been united with her delivery of 110 embroidery hoops. It turns out the 'gentleman' who sold them to us put the wrong house number on the package.

#308 Charcoal

I delivered my drawing material workshop with the year one students starting with charcoal and we touched on other subjects such as my old design studio at school's equipment trolley(!) and how much I love the orange health and safety signs you get on hazardous chemicals. My favourite being the environmental hazard one with the dead fish and tree. The acid on the hand one got a lot of interest too! You see, health and safety is fun!

#306 FSC logo

As you will know every now and again these daily pictures are a little bit obscure (some might say everyday is a bit obscure...) Today's picture is a bit odd, and no it isn't upside down, but it is about next years daily painting, which you can find out more about by having a look at my sponsorship page. Just click my face on the right hand side of this web page.

What you can see is one of the stretcher bars for next years painting (for which I thank my sponsors for helping me obtain). You will note it is made from sustainable forests, which is a good thing and who knows what the mysterious number 36 means...well, I do, and I bet you can guess.

#300 Jimi Hendrix Album

Happy 70th Birthday Jimi, this was the first JH album I bought. I had heard my dads JH album and was very excited to hear this one. This cover is actually the reason my first guitar was red. I also liked the quote on the back that proffered the suggestion that Jimi came from another planet. A small part of me wanted to think that might have been true....

#299 Sunflower

Well, it's nearly a sunflower, technically it is a sunflower bud. Exciting though eh? We have a big (bigger than 'Gogh's) bunch of them, some open some not.

You may have noticed the picture of yours truly on the right hand side of this post. If you visit that link you can see the video in which I outline next years daily project (I know, that time of year again) and explain how you can sponsor the project and receive drawings and paintings in return. I would point out that I am in no way a film maker!

This was made by an old friend of ours from college (he will like the 'old' bit, Seb) I think it is one of the few things we have always had hung on the wall or propped on a shelf.

#288 Cigar Box

This will one day become a cigar box guitar, I was working on a different box guitar today and I had forgotten about this one with this great logo in the front. This image isn't especially relevant for my sisters birthday but, having a cigar is a celebratory thing....not sure it's Kate's style...or mine I think I had a cigar shoved in my mouth at a party once but that's as close as I have got!

#287 Scrabble Board

But not one of your boring cardboard bought scrabble boards. This one we made years ago using glass tiles which is why there are no markings. Which means I forget which are the triple word and which are double letters....I also like a game of 'words with friends' if you know what I'm talking about please start a game with me my wwf name is Dany01

#286 Banjo Head

Regular readers will remember a few days ago I received a couple of banjos which needed a little care and attention. The 'head' vellum I ordered arrived in the post today, here it is on the studio floor. It is made from (look away now, vegetarians) goat skin I really like the paper like transparency of it. I chose goat skin because calf skin is crazy money, and it just felt wrong using plastic on a 100 year old instrument.
