Day #038 Cork Cage

I bet they have a better name than 'cork cage' but 'Happy New Year' friends. Here's to 2013. May it be as good as the best bits of 2012, and the crappy bits can go and do one! Cheers!

Day #037 Plant Pot

We gave the keys back to our allotment today, such a relief. We haven't been on top of it for a while and our back garden is so much nicer and easier to garden in and as a special bonus we don't have to pay for the pleasure of gardening in a clay mud pit. Plus we got the £10 deposit back for the key and £4 deposit for the toilet key.

Day #035 Kangaroo Head

Sometimes you just need to hang a (toy) kangaroos head from a piece of string. By the way, yesterday addition was a hazelnut on top of the cardboard box... No one spotted, but then I don't think anyone tried

Day #034 Guess!

Who fancies a game? You do! Brill! Find today's bit of the painting if you can.... Not sure if the photo is good enough, it's very small.

Day #032 Strawberry Creme

Mmmm chocolates at Christmas, I intend to sort out the slightly hovering nature of this sweetie another day...back to the booze!

Day #030 Feather

I've put a feather in today, mostly for some good Luck...not much went right today! Christmas Eve tomorrow though!

Day #029 Cracker Snap

BANG! It is a bit of a tradition in our house to make homemade crackers, one year we even did it without the snaps, which meant we had to shout 'bang' at the appropriate moment. I finished making mine today, complete with hat and joke. I am now very tempted to just pull this one I have just painted, but I will show restraint and save it till next year...its not dangerous to store explosives is it?

Day #028 Guernica

So, it wasn't the end of the world then? This is a postcard of the Picasso painting 'Guernica' which was made in the aftermath of the horrific bombing of the northern Spanish town of the same name. The Picasso painting serves as a stark reminder that man is the most likely thing to end the world. I'm not sure what my painting is a stark reminder of, other than there is always a tomorrow (when more painting needs doing.)

Day #027 Red bits of paper

It's the time of year when you find little bits of red card cut up into tiny pieces all over the place.

Day #026 Old Banjo Skin

I'm not sure what other banjo players do when they change a skin. I keep it. With the vague Intension of painting it or painting on it. It also answers that burning question of "what is going on the nail?"

Day #025 Christmas Tree

Sadly the Christmas tree we bought in a pot three years ago looks like Charlie browns Christmas tree. Sad. We should have repotted it and gave it some food. But we didn't. So we had to go and hunt a suitable replacement, here it is peeking in at the side. Its a little bit difficult to finish this bit of the painting because I'm not sure what else is going on in this part. We shall wait and see... Maybe a mother shelf/table maybe a cupboard, maybe a big hole to outdoors...

Day #024 two pins

This might be disgusting, I'm not sure, lets see. These two pins seem perfectly normal to me, stick in this sweet. That is because they have been stuck in that 'allsort' for three, or so, years in my studio. Why? I liked the three colours together and I needed somewhere to put the pins, I think I painted them in 'year one' of this daily extravaganza.

Please be aware, in case you worry, I have no intention of eating the liquorice sweetie.
A. It is at least three years old.
B. there are pins stuck in it!

Day #023 Broken shell

I hope the colour has caught your eye as much as it has caught mine. If it hasn't you are clearly colour blind.

Saturday, 15 December 2012

Day #022 String

Inspired by Christmas cards hanging on string, I have added a little 'washing line', I can't wait to hang some stuff from it! This is a perfect example of an element I don't want to add too much detail to because a lot of it is likely to obscured over the coming months....

Friday, 14 December 2012

Day #021 Glaze Test Pot

A tiny little bit of pottery, used to test a glaze, there is even a special code 02s 13d written on the side, I know a man in Cornwall who might know the meaning of it.

Thursday, 13 December 2012

Day #020 Fez

I love Tommy Cooper, I love fezzes, I love painting red things. 'Nuff said.

Should you want to have your own mini fez the crochet pattern that spawned this one is available here for free!

Day #019 Advent Door

Yes, I'm 38 and still have an advent calender. I also have a bit of a penchant for cheap advent calender/easteregg chocolate. But the main reason for painting this today is the date. 12/12/12 the last time we will see a perfect repeating date like that. I even briefly witnessed 12:12 12/12/12 earlier on.

Am I exciting or what.

Day #018 Bead

This is a nice pairing, it has certain incongruous congruences, which I like.

Monday, 10 December 2012

Day #017 String

A piece of string, tied to branch, a bit like a reminder. Will something hang from it or not?

Sunday, 9 December 2012

Day #016 Pin Board

I have always liked to have an area in all my studios where I can pin 'objects of inspiration' some of those will appear on this pinboard. little drawings, postcards, newspaper clippings those sorts of things, you'll see.

Saturday, 8 December 2012

Day #015 Lquorice Allsort

I have stuck a liquorice allsort in the tree, mostly because I can. Also, the shelf I started didn't work very well so, I wiped it off.

Friday, 7 December 2012

Day #014 Toy Gun

I have painted an assualt rifle (toy) because it has been that sort of day.

there is also a chap on the internet called Dan Young who has a firearms website, it isn't me, I fired an airpistol three times on cub scout camp when I was about 10, and thats the end of my weapons discharge history.

Thursday, 6 December 2012

Day #013 Charcoal

Another tree 'by product' today, this time as dark as it gets. Amazing how you can get black products from trees and, like yesterdays napkins, really white ones too.

Ok, maybe it isn't 'amazing' but it is interesting, isnt it?

Dat #012 Napkin

Ummm naughty takeaway food tonight, but we are busy and need to crack on. So I'm off.
