188 Degree show - pen and watercolour

I have painted this after popping through our degree show this evening at the private view, lots of faces from degree shows past which was great to catch up with lots of people, and a thumbs up to a couple more I didn't get to catch up with. So, well done students and none of the paintings in my drawing below are representative of any of your works in the show! Come along to the Francis Close Hall campus and visit the University of Gloucestershire's degree show.

183 Raised Bed

In good old fashioned Dan Young, Daily style I have made today's offering based entirely on my activity of the day. Which was making this raised bed in the garden.

182 Degree show labyrinth panorama

166 Lobster Claw in the tower

I wanted a very small point to balance something on for tomorrow and this lobster claw from my box of objects seemed like a great candidate.

165 A tube of Cadmium red in a stack

I have painted a tube of cadmium red paint, one of my favourite colours, balanced precariously on this black feather to highlight the plight of cadmium. It is under threat from the EU who, quite rightly, want to stop cadmium getting into the watercourse, if you are interested the case is set out very nicely here  http://us3.campaign-archive1.com/?u=63ad3dd9e1c5eac9d34817639&id=2d4c4e2099 . Save the 'cads'!

Another object on the precarious stack tomorrow.

164 Feather in a stack - oil on board

I am commencing a tower, you'll see what I mean over the next few days. But I wanted to start with something ridiculous, something that you just wouldn't start a tower with in the real world.

162 Chicken Portrait II charcoal and watercolour

161 Chicken Portrait

This is a quick little portrait of our biggest chicken - 'biggie'. I may do a drawing of each of the hens over the bank holiday so look out for 'littlie' and 'blackie' over the next two days.

160 William Symonds Fox puppet

I made an oil painting of this fox puppet (possibly my favourite object in the collection) on day 10 which was very near the beginning of the painting of the Wilson Still life! Which as you know, can be see at thewilson in Cheltenham over this month. So, I thought it would be a good drawing to end this little run of museum themed objects. Just got back from the private view which was a very. Enjoyable evening meeting some of the other artists and even some of my old tutors and colleagues.
