307 Dutch houses - monoprint and pastel

Long time follower of this little blog will recall a few paintings of these ceramic Amsterdam houses. One of the best things about making all of these daily images over the last 6 years is I have discovered a core set of 'things' that I have been drawn to again and again. Interesting eh?

This old radio was the radio that lived in my kitchen when I was a little fellow. I intend to give it new life as an improvised guitar amplifier in the not too distant future.

298 Glam Meerkats - oil on linen

This little series of oil paintings I have begun over the last four days are of things I have collected, bee given or found that have some kind of resonance for me. This meerkat was a present from my mum and dad (in jest) for my fortieth birthday. It is a paint your own meerkat which I have now painted.....

And I put glitzy sunglasses on it too.

297 Bell Tower from port Merion (only a model) oil on linen

I am, it would seem, making a series of paintings of objects in my studio that I have been wanting to paint for a while. We visited port merino a few years ago and brought this bell tower back with us... I don't think they noticed.

296 Unresolved soft toy - oil on linen

This is a soft toy designed and 'half' made by Debbie, we can't remember what it was going to be or why it went wrong, but it is a great object. I rescued it from certain destruction a few years ago. With the intention of painting it one day. That day was today.

295 Spider-Man piggy bank - oil on linen

I had to raid my Spider-Man piggy bank to buy some milk for morning tea, thanks spidey. A true hero. The money slot is in the back of his head, which is just out of sight.

291 Cyclist from the Tour of Britain - Linoprint

We saw our first live cycle race today as the tour of Britain came through Cheltenham. It was a great event, there were loads of people out and about to watch it and hundreds of local cyclist riding the route before the pros arrived behind a fleet of police motorbike riders. I have singled out one rider to print today, but expect a full on peloton tomorrow!

Not sure who it is, anyone care to guess?

290 Flowering succulent - mono print with pastel

This palm like succulent is one of those that I expect grows like a weed in its native environment. I keep this one semi tortured in my studio. Flowers well though!

289 Cactus mono print and pastel

I was wondering what to draw/paint/print today as I looked out of my studio window. On my studio window is this little cactus desperately trying to lean in for some sun, which has resulted in a bit of an odd shaped plant. Maybe he will straighten up.

282 Ice cream with Flake - lino print

As summer draws to an end (I mean academic summer, actual summer wills till be happening in my garden for a while!) I thought it an opportune moment to complete the ice cream and lolly series I started a few weeks back. I love a 99! This one, as you can see, is a home made scoop style not the ice cream van style.
