Day #319 Iron Age Axe head

This was found in the trench of the foundations of a house in Gloucestershire in 1927, I found it Cheltenhams newly refurbished art gallery and museum when I should have been working. I have spent a thoroughly enjoyable couple of days helping to install the 'Open West' Exhibition. Opens Friday evening, see you there!

(I would possibly have got more done if they didn't keep sending me to hang things in the 20th century painting room) there is a lovely David Bomberg, a dark and broody Graham Sutherland and (one of my tutors from art school) Anita Taylor hung next to a Stanley Spencer among others. Some great Dutch paintings too, I think I may have been a Dutch still life painter in my previous life....

Day #314 Charcoal Finger Print

I spent this afternoon going up and down on my scissor lift hanging our first year students big charcoal drawing up high. Subsequently I had very charcoaly fingers so, I have 'painted' one here for posterity. This is the closest to a day off I have had since I began 'Dan Young, Daily'!
