#244 Apple
I made an apple cake today, but didn't need all the apples and this half was watching me all the time I was baking.

#242 Lily Bud
This almost looks like a plant finger, it isn't, that would be ridiculous. It's a bud from the lovely bunch of flowers Debbie came home with from work today, a nice thing in an otherwise less than first class week.

#240 Thumb Profile
It has been interesting examining my thumb over the past couple of paintings, might complete the triptych tomorrow.

#239 Thumb
It's history making time! This is the first time, throughout the entire Dan Young Daily archive, that I have painted myself. My Left thumb to be exact, complete with a little bit of dirt under the nail.

#236 Fingernail
I sometimes get asked if I make sculpture, I don't, much too difficult and messy. But this is a detail of a chunky hand I carved out of plaster years ago, possibly my only surviving 3d work. I have enjoyed painting it though so you might see a few more fingernails over the coming days.

#235 carnivorous plant
Having been to Kew gardens this week we have been inspired to create a tiny carnivorous plant boggy area in the garden. We had been keeping them in pots in the greenhouse but they appear to be quite happy living outside, we shall see!

#234 Gamboge Yellow
Just got back from a week (ish) in London, had a great time and saw some great things (twitter followers will be bored of hearing about it I expect) but I forgot to take any yellow paint. You see I wanted to travel as light as possible so, two small brushes, three tiny boards to paint on, cadmium red, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, titanium White and Naples yellow, which is yellow, but only just. Something to remember in the future maybe take more smaller tubes for travelling. We also forgot our toothbrushes but a wonderful, relaxing break nonetheless. Tired now though!

#233 Anthurium
This anthurium was one of the most brightly coloured and obscenely red things we saw at kew gardens today, so I painted it.

#232 Black Crowe
I am very, very excited. A) it's my birthday today B) I am going to my favourite band the Black Crowes tonight. But first to Bill Wymans restaurant 'Sticky Fingers' I wonder if Bill will be flipping my burger! This is a profile view of one of a pair of black crowes I got from Debbie for my birthday this morning. Obviously!
