#38 Broken Second Hand

Happy New Year! This is a broken second hand from a wall clock I have kept, you know just in case. A lot of these will be watched later on this evening as next year grows nearer with 327 more paintings to be made. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#37 Lump of Earth

Having returned from a seasonal round trip of central England I wanted to paint something that was about coming home. This is a small lump of earth from my back garden, makes me wish I had done a lump of earth from everyones house we visited...maybe next time. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#33 Toy Plastic Boulder


I knew Boxing Day would be the hardest to complete a painting in, having spent the day with my sister and my two nephews it seemed only right that I paint one of thier toys. This is a plastic boulder which seemed like a nice follow on from the stone I painted the other day.  Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#32 Brussel Sprout

#31 Pool Cue Chalk

#30 Stone

Having painted a few things that have been thrown into my garden here is a painting of something I didn't and wouldn't want to have found thrown into the garden. This stone struck me (pun intended) as being very square but also very worn. I like to think it was a cube once upon a time whe the earth was young....

Over Christmas I intend to update the blog as regularly as normal but the Ebay listings may be done in batches, but they will all be listed!

#28 Hedgehog Ornament

This Hedghog ornament appeared in our back garden some months ago along with another ornament that may get painted tomorrow. I can only assume one of our neighbours was having a clearout and didnt want them to go into landfill. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#27 Jelly Burger


We finished christmas shoppping today and went for a very tasty burger at 'Burger Burger' in Cheltenham, our complimentary sweet at the end of the meal was two of these jelly burgers and so todays subject was found! Oil on Gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#26 Blue Drawer Knob

This is a drawer knob from a chest of drawers that needs fixing one day soon. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm. A simple pallette used in this painting, only ultramarine and cobalt blue, raw sienna and flake white.

# 23 Jigsaw Piece

Now, some years ago I started to collect jigsaw pieces that I found as I went about my daily business, unfortunately I have since lost most of them. This one however has always held my interest, I particularly like the coloured stripes. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.
edit: This is from a Beatles Jigsaw and not one I found. It has now rejoined its jigsaw brothers and sisters.

#22 Chocolate Reindeer

Here is a tasty chocolate reindeer made with a cherry nose, almond ears, silver ball eyes and (the best bit) pretzels for antlers. Happy Birthday to its creator, Willem Adams! Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#21 Liquorice Allsort

Here is another sweet from my, diminishing, sweet collection used in two painting classes this week. Four different yellows were used in this painting colour fans; Naples, Cadmium light, cadmium medium and plain old cadmium. Agian, the subject of this painting is no longer with us. #14 Toy Wooden Fox


Here is the last in the wooden toy series, a fox. Just vermillion, viridian, flake white, the tiniest bit of ultramarine blue and raw sienna used for this one. Oil on gesso and 16 cm x 12 cm.
