#279 Welsh Rock

This will the last reference to my welsh holiday, maybe, the last little bit of rock we brought back this one is/was aniseed mmmmmmvery tasty we also go thumbug flavour and strawberries and cream. I am pretty sure it had welsh written through it and the other word must be rock but it has not reall made it as a word. Also if you haven't already found it you may be interested in my new painting project Dan Young, Monthly which is also Wales based, okay that was the last time. #278 Prawn Head

I was picking around in the left over bits from the preparation of tonights Pealla, like you do, for something good to paint when I was captivated by the really looooong feelers on this fellow. So I painted him which might mean the sauce Debbie is making is a tiny bit less flavoursome than it would have been. I take full responsibility. Watercolour and pencil 29cm x19cm click here to bid.

#275 Circuit Board

I have no idea what this circuit board used to be or anything about it, I found it while clearing one of the studios at work today and thought it looked like an interesting thing to paint. I was going to make a story up about removing this from my head after a disturbed nights sleep, maybe dreaming I was on a table in a large white room with men with tiny arms and big eyes took samples and did experiments on me and stuff. But I didn't. Watercolour and pencil 14cm x 9cm click here to bid.

#274 Bombay Mix

Some days something presents itself for me to paint or I have a very clear idea of what I am going to do and sometimes I go on an object hunt. Tonight was an object hunt and I found a half eaten packet of bombay mix tucked away in the kitchen...result! Watercolour and pencil 19cm x14cm click here to bid.

#271 Portmerion Postcard

We have a winner, (a big thanks to everyone who entered the 'guess the building competition', even if you were disqualified!) congratulations to Michelle who is the proud winner of a Ten pound DY,D voucher! The correct answer to Wednesdays poser was of course, Portmerion where we spent a great day last week and bought this postcard. While we were there I made a terrible painting of Portmerion, not from a dissimilar angle to this postcard (except the postcard picture was taken from a balloon). Watercolour and pencil 29cm x19cm click here to bid.

#270 Cardboard Kid

I am very excited to be host to Cardboard Kid from '365 days of Cardboard Kid' today. Being a daily do-er like myself I simply had to team up with Cardboard Kid and paint his portrait for one of my paintings this year. I have chosen to paint him reclining in the studio, sort of like Velazquez's Rokeby Venus , or Titians Venus of Urbino (but more masculine). Watercolour and pencil 19cm x 14cm click here to bid.

#268 Bell Tower

I have finally caught up with getting the past months paintings onto ebay, so from 21:04 tonight you can bid on this and the last 26 other paintings you can also see better quality photos of them on ebay. The reason for my tardiness (apart from sheer summer based laziness) is that I have been on holiday which is where the subject for todays painting came from....and on that subject, its competition time!

The first person to send me an email (dan@danyoungart.co.uk) and tell me where the building depicted is situated (and indeed where I bought it from) wins £10 off one of the listings going live tonight at 21:04 (not sure how I managed to make it 21:04) so, if you know where this bell tower lives in the world or if you fancy doing a bit of detective work, there are some clues in the past weeks posts, figure it out and save a tenner. Finally, to all of you lovely people who know exactly where I have been, you are immedietely disqualified 'cos that wouldnt be fair would it?

Watercolour and Pencil 29cm x19cm click here to bid and here to bid on anything else from the last 27 days.

#267 Old Iron

I 'think' this rusty old bit of iron we found buried in the garden used to be part of a fence. If not that, it must be some kind of medieval arrow head...Watercolour and pencil 19cm x 14cm.

#263 Crab Claw

Anglesey crab for tea last night, coming from North Norfolk I am loyal to Cromer crab as being the most superior crab on this planet. This was, however very tasty and they dress them differently, which is why the claw is cut the way it is. Watercolour and pencil 19cm x 14cm.

#259 Seaweed

Apparently you can predict the weather by using seaweed. If its dry and crispy the weather will be fine. If its soft and pliable it will rain. I can confirm the seaweed is soft and pliable and it is indeed raining. Watercolour and pencil 29cm x 19cm.

#256 Tuning Peg Winder

This is a tuning peg winder, they may have a more accurate name but I am unaware of it. It is useful for old mandolin tuning pegs that are a little stiff and also useful for restringing guitars. However I have never used it, I dont think I have ever remembered we even had it. I don't think I am all that interested in labour saving devices. I paint pictures for a start, apparently I heard there are magic boxes that capture the image of things and reproduce them in two dimensional form. It'll never catch on. Watercolour and pencil 19cm x14cm.

#252 Avacado Stone and Skin

My mind was captured, while I was painting this little bit of avocado debris, by how much this might look like an egg and a larger egg shell if I got it wrong. But it is green so it won't. Watercolour and pencil 29cm x19cm.
