#61 Black and White Allsort

After all the colour I have been using recently, here is a nice (looking not tasting!) black and white liquourice allsort. The pallette for this painting did not include any black at all, just Titanium white, burnt umber, ultramarine blue, ultramarine purple and the tiniest fleck of cadmium orange. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.

#60 Orange Liquorice Allsort

Liquorice allsorts are one of those, rare, things that I love to look at but really dont like to eat! You can just see three of the little blue balls from another style of allsort in the bag that fell off the sweet when I placed it down ready to paint. Oil on gesso 16cm x 12xcm.

Day #015 Lquorice Allsort

I have stuck a liquorice allsort in the tree, mostly because I can. Also, the shelf I started didn't work very well so, I wiped it off.

Day #055 Allsort

I think my sweet tooth will be a theme through this years painting, along with dentists. Oh dear. I feel a tower of sweets coming on....

Day #250 Needle and thread

I went to Gloucester today, business not pleasure. Anyway to commemorate Beatrix potters tailor of Gloucester I have painted a needle and thread stuck in the liquorice allsort. Odd? Me?

011 Allsort with Pins - oil on linen

This little motif was in last years big painting, I thought as I have been taking stock of this project it might be interesting to revisit some of the ideas touched upon in the other years of Dan Young, Daily.

Day #024 two pins

This might be disgusting, I'm not sure, lets see. These two pins seem perfectly normal to me, stick in this sweet. That is because they have been stuck in that 'allsort' for three, or so, years in my studio. Why? I liked the three colours together and I needed somewhere to put the pins, I think I painted them in 'year one' of this daily extravaganza.

Please be aware, in case you worry, I have no intention of eating the liquorice sweetie.
A. It is at least three years old.
B. there are pins stuck in it!

#21 Liquorice Allsort

Here is another sweet from my, diminishing, sweet collection used in two painting classes this week. Four different yellows were used in this painting colour fans; Naples, Cadmium light, cadmium medium and plain old cadmium. Agian, the subject of this painting is no longer with us. Oil on gesso 16cm x12cm.
