#193 Fish Food and Sandpaper

Continuing the theme of painting things that people have given me here is a pile of fish food and a little piece of fine sandpaper. Two objects that have links to other daily paintings and were both given to me by the same person, Dave Jones, who I did a joint post with on day #85. So, the sandpaper was used on the carving which the woodchippings were from in day #85's painting. The fish flakes, also kindly gifted by Dave, was one of the objects I was deciding on when Steve Knibbs from the BBC came to film me painting day #68. I veiw these objects as relics from the projects history and I really like the way it has brought two seemingly unconnected items together in what could be the oddest painting so far!

#85 Elastic Band

Given how much the post Office has been involved with my daily painting project, when I spotted this elastic band on our doorstep I had to paint it, even though I doubt an elastic band has been used to contain any paintings in transit. (I have also had a couple of things go awry in the postal system over the last couple of weeks so, they have been on my mind a little.) Watercolour and Pencil 14cm x 9cm click here to bid.

#85 Pile of Woodwose Chippings

Todays post is a joint post with Woodwose Carving, click here to visit and find out what a woodwose is! Dave has very kindly kept the waste from one of his carvings, a small woodwose based on the norse god Thor. This came about from a suggestion Dave made on the 'Dan Young, Daily' group on facebook, where among other objects he suggested wood shavings as a subject for a painting.

So, I suggested a double post one of his woodwose and one of a painting of all the bits of wood that didn't become a woodwose!
