#93 Snail Fossil

This little snail fossil has a good story that has nothing to do with today at all, but I will tell it anyway. In our last flat we took on a bit of the back garden in a vain attempt to tame blackberries and ground elder and to grow plants underneath two huge sycamore trees. While making a gravel bed using stone chippings we noticed this snail shaped stone which turned out to be a fossil, it has lived with us ever since. The only good snail is a fossilised snail! Oil on gesso 16cm x 12cm.
